old mill

we are loving our two week long spring break. i have told the kids yesterday and today to make their own lists of projects they want to work on for the day and then try to work independently. it’s funny to me what they are all choosing. cole is doing a lot of things that we normally do like writing in his journal, reading and writing about what he’s reading, filling in his handwriting notebook and playing the piano. mary polly spent her entire day yesterday perched in my crazy creek in the front yard writing a book about an easter bunny named anna. she even took her lunch out there. ben has mostly been drawing. also, he revises his list all day long according to his hourly whims. today we spent the entire morning around lakewood lake and the old mill. then we came home, sprawled all over the couches and listened to lemony snicket on cd as we tried to cool off. no one told us it was summer break! “hello global warming!” as taido would say.
