i have been slowly losing my voice this week, and now it’s really gone. as it has gotten worse, i have been conserving my words more, editing out whatever i can and saying only what is absolutely necessary. in the process, i have realized how many totally unnecessary things i usually say. maybe, (and this is really profound, i know) i should always be conserving my words and editing out what isn’t necessary.
here are a few of the things i just haven’t had the energy to say in the last 24 hours or so.
go-lean is now only $2.50 at walmart neighborhood market
tomorrow is trash day
i really think we need to call a plumber
my back hurts
stop fighting
clear your dishes
please don’t wear that dress today…you’re going to ruin it outside
it’s time for school
i’m sorry i drank all the coffee
please don’t wake up simon
we missed the recycle truck
your task lists are on the table. you’ve been neglecting them all morning
i guess i’m the only one having lunch today because i’m the only one done with my work
please don’t say that you’re starving. you’re insulting the 40,000 people who will die today because they don’t have enough to eat.
your birthday isn’t until august…stop talking about who you are or are not going to invite!
because i’m the mommy and you’re the child
yes! we’re having leftovers…i don’t care if you didn’t like it yesterday. people in africa don’t have anything to eat. stop complaining.
your brother is sleeping!!
it’s wherever you left it
be quiet
please finish your schoolwork
no one is playing on the computer again until 2008!
even a fool is thought wise if he keeps silent,
and discerning if he holds his tongue.
proverbs 17:28
so sorry to hear about your voice. Last year I had a bad ear infection and lost a lot of hearing temp. I think I yelled everything I said. Crazy. PS- I tagged you on my blog for a thinking award!
These made me laugh-and then realize how silly the things are that we have to tell our children (and husbands) every day….like planning the August birthday party! What in the world? Savannah does the very same thing. I love these glimpses into your world.
It’s me again, some stranger that just walked onto your blog from my new found friend at my little life’s blog and I’m laughing and crying all at the same time while reading this. While my husband is wondering what my problem is.. Thank you again.
